Beginning Nov. 8, we will ask patients if we can take an ID photo to attach to their electronic medical record (EMR). Many healthcare systems from around the country are doing this as part of an initiative to assist with patient safety and identification.
An additional benefit of having the patient photo in the EMR, is that the photo serves as a visual reminder to the provider, thereby enhancing caregiver communication with the patient.
