Congratulations to retired orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist Dr. James Scott for being honored by the Tift County Athletic Hall of Fame. Dr. Scott, founder of Georgia Sports Medicine, received the Anthony Bateman Meritorious Service Award. His son, U.S. Rep. Austin Scott, accepted the award on Dr. Scott’s behalf.
As a team doctor and consultant to the Tift County High School athletic program, Dr. Scott volunteered his expertise to Tift County athletes and developed and hosted an annual sports medicine seminar in conjunction with Tift Regional Medical Center. This seminar provided coaches, trainers, physical therapists, and medical providers with knowledge and resources to enhance care for student athletes.
