Tift Regional Medical Center awarded sixth straight “A” grade from The Leapfrog Group

Tift Regional Medical Center (TRMC) earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, a nonprofit, independent watchdog organization focused on patient safety. Leapfrog assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade to hospitals across the country based on over 30 measures of errors, accidents, injuries, and infections as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them.

“For the sixth Leapfrog survey period in a row, our team of medical professionals and support staff have demonstrated their commitment to quality care and patient safety,” said Christopher Dorman, Southwell President/CEO. “This national distinction celebrates Tift Regional’s achievements in protecting hospital patients from preventable harm and errors.”

Leah Binder, President/CEO of The Leapfrog Group, said “A” grades since 2022 reflect TRMC’s enormous dedication to patient safety.

“I extend my congratulations to TRMC, its leadership, clinicians, staff and volunteers for creating a culture where patients come first,” said Binder.

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade stands as the only hospital ratings program focused solely on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day in the United States. This program is peer reviewed, fully transparent, and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
