TRMC Patient Care Technician Jessie Shiflett Receives BEE Award for Exceptional Patient Care

Tift Regional Medical Center (TRMC) recognized Patient Care Technician Jessie Shiflett of the Cardiac Step Down Unit as the recipient of The BEE Award (Being Exceptional Everyday), honoring his dedication, compassion, and commitment to exceptional patient care.

Established in 2016, The BEE Award was created by nurses at Jewish Hospital to recognize caregivers in non-licensed nursing roles who consistently go above and beyond in supporting patients and the nursing team.

The BEE Award is connected symbolically to the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. Bees are essential to a daisy’s ability to grow, representing the vital teamwork and collaboration required in healthcare. In the same way a daisy cannot bloom without the support of the bee, nurses rely on the strong support of patient care technicians and other healthcare professionals to provide the best possible care.

“Jessie is a dedicated, skilled, and empathetic patient care technician as well as a nursing student,” said Leigh Luke, RN, TRMC Cardiac Step Down Unit Nurse Manager. “He was nominated for this award because of his intuitive understanding of human needs, both spoken and unspoken. He treats patients and their families not as tasks or cases, but as people deserving of dignity, comfort, and care. We have so many examples of Jessie’s warm compassion for those we serve.”

TRMC congratulates Shiflett on this well-deserved recognition and thanks him for the important role he plays in providing quality care to patients and families each day.
