Southwell Medical in Adel recognized Patient Care Technician Haley Pugh, who works in Acute Care, as the recipient of The BEE Award (Being Exceptional Everyday) for her outstanding professionalism, teamwork, and compassionate care for patients.
Established in 2016, The BEE Award was created by nurses at Jewish Hospital to recognize caregivers in non-licensed nursing roles who go above and beyond and provide exceptional care to patients.
The BEE Award can be connected symbolically to the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. Bees are fundamentally crucial to a daisy’s ability to grow, representing the teamwork needed in healthcare. Just as a daisy cannot bloom without the support of the bee, nurses cannot do their best work without the outstanding support provided by patient care technicians and other healthcare professionals.
“Every time Haley comes into work, she exemplifies professionalism, empathy, teamwork, and leadership,” said Leigh McCabe, RN, Director of Patient Care Services at Southwell Medical. “She is amazing at giving patients a sense of comfort.”
McCabe said Pugh has been with Southwell Medical for nearly two years and has become a leader among patient care technicians.
“Haley never turns away from a task, no matter the circumstances, and does it with a great, professional attitude,” McCabe said. “She is willing to float to other units without hesitation and jumps in to help her team members in any way. We are so grateful to have her on our team.”
Southwell Medical congratulates Pugh on this well-deserved honor and thanks her for the dedication she brings to patient care each day.
