TRMC Foundation donates $20,000 to Tiftarea YMCA

The Tift Regional Medical Center (TRMC) Foundation recently donated $20,000 to the Tiftarea YMCA in Tifton, GA.

The Tiftarea YMCA’s Food for Thought Program and after-school program will benefit by nourishing area children.

“This program has been essential to our community for over eighteen years,” says Mandy Brooks, Executive Director for the TRMC Foundation. “Over fifty children participate in the Bateman Center’s free after-school program, which runs Monday through Friday from 3:00-6:00 p.m. This program includes a nutritious snack, kid-friendly activities, and daily computer and assignment skills practice with tutoring available.”

Each week, more than 10,000 meals are served at the summer feeding locations. This program offers daycare for parents in our community at two additional locations.

The Tiftarea YMCA and the TRMC Foundation are excited to work together on this project. According to Brooks, “The Foundation is a community sponsor, and efforts are used for medical equipment for local and surrounding county emergency medical services, as well as assistance within the community.” To learn more, visit www.trmcf.com or www.tiftareaymca.org/food-for-thought.php.
