Tift Regional Medical Center Staff Complete LifeLink Donor Resource Training Program

Tift Regional Medical Center (TRMC) recently had five team members complete the LifeLink of Georgia Donor Resource Training Program, a specialized training designed to strengthen hospital-based knowledge and support related to organ and tissue donation.

LifeLink of Georgia, the state’s organ recovery organization, conducted the training program virtually. The program equips hospital staff with a deeper understanding of the donation process so they can serve as onsite resources during potential donor cases, including supporting referrals, donor case management, and family care.

Unlike traditional donation conferences that include hundreds of participants and broad educational topics, the Donor Resource Training Program is intentionally limited to a small group of clinical professionals. Participants are selected jointly by LifeLink staff and hospital leadership to promote in-depth learning and open discussion.

At TRMC, Donor Resource-trained staff serve as a key knowledge base for colleagues and help ensure the hospital’s donation referral protocols align with state and federal regulatory standards. These team members also help identify and initiate timely referrals, support process improvement initiatives related to missed or late referrals, facilitate communication among care teams during donor cases, and monitor donation compliance performance using data.

The TRMC team members who completed the latest training program include Chrissy Dent, RN, Director of Organizational Development; Rhonda Lewis, RN, Clinical Educator; Katie Brey, RN, Clinical Educator; Stephannie McClain, RN, Clinical Educator; and Leigh Luke, RN, Nurse Manager.

“TRMC is proud of these dedicated team members for completing this program and for their commitment to supporting patients and families during some of life’s most difficult moments,” said Dent. “Their training strengthens our ability to ensure donation-related processes are handled with excellence, compassion, and compliance.”
